Randall Ficken, 51, of Melbourne, died early Saturday morning, October 29th, at the Iowa River Hospice House.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Melbourne Cemetery in a private family service. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchelfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on November 30, 1959, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of Ervin and Annia Biekert Ficken. He received his education in the West Marshall Schools.On August 15, 1981, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center, he was united in marriage to Dolores Dolo Isaacson. They made their home near Melbourne. Randy was employed at KIOWA and later Swifts up until the time of his battle with cancer began in 2009. He enjoyed hunting, fishing (especially at Red Rock), and Taekwondo (he and Dolo were both black belts). Left to cherish his memory are Dolo, his loving wife of 30 years, his children Ryan (Elisha), Rebecca and Renee; grandchildren- Dominic, Cienna, Damine and Celinda; parents Ervin and Annia, sister Carol (Bernie) Mauck and many friends. In death, he rejoined his infant brother Richard and his grandparents.
