Ray F. Chrisman, 87, of the Iowa Veterans Home, died there on Monday morning, December 31, 2012. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery with Angela Doty, chaplain of IVH officiating. There will be full military honors provided by the combined groups of Veterans of Foreign Wars Harry C. Harter Post #839 and American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46. There will be no visitation. Born on March 29, 1925, in Whitten, Iowa,Ray was the son of Orin Fredrick and Verda (Godfrey) Chrisman. He graduated from the Whitten High School and soon served our country honorably in the United States Army during WWII. Ray was employed at Gra-Iron and Lennox Industries. Surviving are his daughter and son: Shirley (Darriel) Coatney of Marshalltown and Gary (Betty) Chrisman of Steamboat Rock; step-child Pam Pierre of Gifford, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; his siblings: Lois Drummer of Marshalltown, Larry (Sunny) Chrisman of Union, Wallace (Barb) Chrisman of Eldora and Joy Navara; many nieces, nephews and his family at the Iowa Veterans Home. In death, he rejoined his parents and siblings Earl, Fern, and Margie.
