Rebecca Mathes

Rebecca (Becky) Jo Mathes, 65, of Haverhill, Iowa, lost a hard fought medical battle that concluded at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Becky went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday March 16, 2015. Memorial services for Becky will be held on Friday, March 20th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa with Pastor Mike Hargrave officiating. The family will host a visitation for family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home on Thursday, March 19th, 2015. Becky Jo (Nichol) Mathes was born on October 26th, 1949 in Marshalltown, Iowa the daughter of Kenneth and Claudia (Hoy) Nichol and was raised and educated in the Marshall county area. Becky was united in marriage to Darrel (Keith) Mathes on February 3rd, 1968 and they made homes in Van Cleve, Albion, Marshalltown and Haverhill, Iowa. They are the proud parents of two sons Bradley and Brian both of Hastings, Nebraska and cherished grandchildren Melissa and Nathan. She had retired from her career as a health care professional and enjoyed spending her time as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Her greatest passions beyond her beloved family included pampering her most treasured cats Missy Ann and Bubba, collecting frogs from her grandson, collecting beautiful dolls, the time she spent as president of the Rebekahs, shopping for any reason and especially helping others in any way she could. Left to cherish Beckys memory are her husband Darrel (Keith) Mathes of Haverhill, Iowa. Children: Bradley Mathes and Brian Mathes both of Hastings, Nebraska. Her grandson Nathan Mathes of Hastings, Nebraska. Sister ,Gloria (Bob) Rodale of St. Charles, Missouri, brother, Kenneth Duane Nichol of Mount Pleasant, Iowa and sister, Teri (Milton) Wikstrom of Waverly, Iowa. Sibling in-laws, Deanna (Ray) Steveson of Marshalltown, Iowa, Gene (Becky) Mathes of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Vicki (Kenny) Sires of Melbourne, Iowa and Ronda (Wayne) Blubaugh of Melbourne, Iowa. Uncle and Aunt, Lawrence (Emma) Nichol of Marshalltown, Iowa and a whole host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Becky was preceded in death by her granddaughter Melissa Marie Mathes, her parents Kenneth and Claudia Nichol, grandparents Mr. & Mrs. John Nichol and Mr. & Mrs. William Hoy and brother in-law D. Lavern Mathes. Becky will be laid to rest with graveside services at the Melbourne Memorial Cemetery in Melbourne, Iowa.
