Regina Paul, 83, of Marshalltown, died late Tuesday night, May 19th, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames with her family at her side. Her death came peacefully at 11:55 p.m. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23rd, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with burial at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery. Born Regina Gillen on January 11th, 1926, in Lincoln, Nebraska, she was the daughter and one of six children born to Ronald and Adelia (Lindeken) Gillen. Her family moved to Cedar Rapids where she graduated high school. On November 20th, 1946, she was united in marriage to William Gene Paul at the St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. They made their home in Marshalltown all of their married lives. Mrs. Paul was a bookkeeper for Meads Dairy in Marshalltown in years past and then a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed drawing and was a great organizer. During WWII, she traveled with the USO Dance Troup. Left to celebrate her life are four children: Karen (Joe) Hyatt of Oxford, PA, Pam Mitchell of Saunemin, IL, Judy (Dave) Ballard of Marshalltown and Robert Paul of Kansas City, MO, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Patricia Reed and brother Jerry Gillen of Cedar Rapids as well as several nieces, nephews, and best friends Bob and Jeanette Oetker of Marshalltown. In death she has rejoined her parents, husband and soul mate William Gene on November 2, 2005, granddaughter Ella, brothers Tommy and Bob and sister Delores.
