Retha Adams

Retha Adams, 65, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on the evening of December 30, 2022 at her home.

Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a family led celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Retha Lynn Rotgers was born September 23, 1957 to parents Cecil and Shirley (Rieks) Rotgers in Clarion, Iowa. She was one of seven children in her family. Retha attended school in Steamboat Rock and later graduated high school from Steamboat Rock in 1976. She furthered her education at Ellsworth Community College where she received her Associates of Arts Degree.

Later in life she was united in marriage to Carroll “Newt” Adams. Together they had their daughter Nichole and later divorced. Retha worked for many years at the Iowa Department of Human Services in the income maintenance department where she would later retire.

In her free time, Retha loved to work in her garden, spend time shopping, taking rides on her bicycle, going for walks and taking her dog with her. Most importantly she loved to be a grandma and spend time with her grandkids.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Nichole (Michael) Malloy; her grandchildren Haylee and Weston Malloy; her mother Shirley Rotgers; her siblings, Rodney (Jane) Rotgers, Bryan Rotgers, Brenda Rotgers, Kelly (Evelyn) Rotgers, and Melissa (Donald) Kelley; alongside numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father Cecil; her brother Kevin Rotgers; and her sister-in-law Vicky Rotgers.
