Our best friend, wife, mother and Worlds Greatest Nana, Rhonda (Mrs. John) Casey, 53, of Marshalltown, died Monday, August 25th, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 30th, at St. Henrys Catholic Church with Fr. Don Czapla officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery with a time of fellowship and refreshments to immediately follow at the church hall. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the church. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Rhonda Louise Freese on May 1st, 1955, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Glenn and Janella (Richeson) Freese. She grew up in the Van Cleve community and graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1973. She later received her nurses aid training. On April 20th, 1974, she married her best friend, John Casey at St. Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. They made their home in Marshalltown all of their married lives where she was employed at the Marshall County Care Facility, Montgomery Wards, KIOWA and most recently on Malloy Building, Unit 2-South as nursing unite coordinator at the Iowa Veterans Home. Rhonda will be remembered for her kindness, care, compassion, smile, and never being judgmental. She enjoyed reading novels, crafts, 50s and 60s music and dearly treasured her granddaughter, Brooklynn. She was a member of St. Henrys Catholic Church, Societta Vittoria Italiana in Ankeny, former 4-H member and attended many functions at the KC Hall. Greatly missing Rhonda are her loving husband of 34 years, John, her daughters Nicole and Tiffany of Marshalltown, granddaughter Brooklynn, father Glenn (Carol) Freese of Van Cleve, siblings: Lynette (George) Smith of Melbourne, Alecia (Frank) Loustch of Grinnell, Glenda (Don) Baker of Marshalltown, Roger (Jana) Freese of Marshall, Texas, Matt (Kris) Freese of Marshalltown, four nephews, three nieces, her mother-in-law Della Casey Airey of Marshalltown, brother-in-law Mike (Raechel) Casey of Marshalltown, as well as her IVH family, numerous extended family and friends. In death she has rejoined her mother, fathers-in-law Ernest Casey and Floyd Airey, sisters-in-law Jan Casey and Ann Marie Casey and her grandparents.
