Born on July 6th, 1950, in Marshalltown, he was the son of George and Leona (Fry) Armstrong, Sr. He received his education in the South Tama Schools. Rick was married to Audrey Birt and later, on February 13th, 1971, was married to Connie Thede at the Tama United Methodist Church. They made their home in Toledo. Mr. Armstrong was an over-the-road truck driver for many years and the past 22 years was employed at Green Products of Conrad. Logging on millions of miles over the years, Rick trucked to every state of the union except for Vermont and of course, Hawaii and much of Canada. He enjoyed watching surround sound TV, camping, doing genealogy and history, listening to classic rock and oldies music, fixing computers, trips to Branson, but most of all treasured his grandchildren and children and time with his wife. Left to mourn his loss are Connie, his loving wife of 39 years, son Larry (Sandy) of Tama, daughter Richelle Shelly Deal of Garwin, grandchildren: Jessy, Jennifer, Westin and Gracie; siblings: Robert (Lynn) Armstrong of Waterloo, Carole Knoll of Tama, Dennis (Barb) Armstrong of Lubbock, TX., Elizabeth (Leonard) Untiedt of Garwin and George Doc (Gwen) Armstrong, Jr. of Lubbock, TX, as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. In death, he rejoined his parents, sister Aloha Jean Herberger and his faithful friend and companion, Sadie his schnauzer.
