Richard Buffington

Richard (Dick) Buffington, age 78 of Marshalltown passed away on January 14, 2013 with his loving wife of 59 years by his side.Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa with the funeral service on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. also at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo presiding. Memorials may be directed towards the family for designation at a later date. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dick and his family. Phone 641-844-1234.Dick was born on March 4, 1934 to Vernie and Leona Waldo Buffington in Albion, Iowa and was married on June 13, 1953 to Annalee Freland. Dick worked for Fisher Controls for 42 years, starting at age 16 on October 13, 1950 and retiring on December 1, 1992. He loved everything associated with the great outdoors, including working in the timber, caring for wildlife, working on projects and farm sales. He was a true friend to anyone that knew him and was always there with a helping hand to his friends and family. He was a loving husband, father and friend and would do anything for his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Annalee and children: Donna (Van) Huff of Marshalltown; Jodee (Rob) Lewis of Mission Viejo, California; Jan (Steve) Logue of Overland Park, Kansas and Rod (Karen) Buffington of Marshalltown; ten grandchildren: Shelly, Jason, Kelly, Emily, Courtney, Josh, Brett, Lexie, Christin and Dustin; two great grandchildren: Triton and Kendall and two sisters: Alberta Birchard and LaVonne Baker.Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Vernie (Junior) Buffington of Des Moines; Ilo (Bud) Buffington of Marshalltown; Donnie Buffington of Laurel and sister Helen Buffington of Spanaway, Washington.
