The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dick and his family. Ph. 641-844-1234. Dick was born on October 11th, 1937, to Gale Bessel and Elsie Marie (Ziebell) Melton. The family moved to Marshalltown when he was a young boy. On August 17th, 1957, he married the love of his life, Mick Arnold. Dick was employed at Dunham-Bush for a remarkable 44 years, four months, four days and four minutes until he retired. He lived for his family, drove around in his old pickup truck checking on his kids and loved his beloved granddogs and grandcats. He enjoyed feeding the animals that came around outside the house, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play basketball and stopping at Vaughns Pub in the afternoon for a pop with Steve, Kevin and Kevin and plus everyone else. In younger years, he liked to coach and play baseball. Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 56 years, Mick, his children: Dane Melton of Marshalltown, Roxane Hazen of Marshalltown and Kimberly (Jason) Stalzer of Marshalltown, one grandson Bradford Gale Hazen and many, many friends. In death, Dick rejoined his parents and two children who died in infancy.
