Richard Eddy, 86, of Marshalltown, died in the peace of his home with his family at his side on the night of Friday, April 8th. Funeral services honoring God for the life of Richard Eddy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16th, at the Fellowship Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Fellowship Baptist Church. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on November 21st, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of Delos Alfred and Gladys Irene (Chandler) Eddy. He received his education in many different schools during his youth, and later served our country honorably in the United States Army. On February 1st, 1952, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Donna (Herme) in Winnebago, MN. They made their homes in Deer River, MN, Mankato, MN, Albion, IA, and since 1963 in Marshalltown. Richard was a devoted Fisher employee for 37 years until his retirement. Mr. Eddy was a faithful member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting with his dogs, mushroom hunting, gardening and yardwork and treasured the time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are Donna, his loving wife of 64 years; seven children- Norman and Vickie (Eddy) Miller of Grinnell; Mark and Beth (Cuffel) Eddy of Tama; Edwin and Laurie (Eddy) Hannahs of Marshalltown; Richard and Elaine (Eddy) McDonnell of Sheldon, IL; Nancy Eddy of Ankeny; Derek and Elizabeth (Eddy) Young of Lexington, Kentucky; and Thomas and Sarah (Eddy) Batson of Greenville, SC, as well as 41 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and only brother, Merle Dean Eddy.
