Richard Dick Kibbee, 63, of rural Gilman, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at his home. Following cremation a celebration of Dicks life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation for Dick will be held on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home where his family will be present to greet friends. Dick was born October 10, 1947, the son of Earl Kibbee and Rosemary LaKose. He was raised in the Brooklyn, Iowa, area and graduated from the Grinnell High School. Following high school Dick went to work for Holland Plastics for several years. On October 1, 1994, at Green Castle Lake, Dick was united in marriage to Anna Macauley. In 1974 he began his career at the Gilman Co-Op lumber yard. In the mid-1980s he went on to be an agronomy operator at the Central Counties Co-Op which is known today as the Heartland Co-Op in Gilman where he had over thirty-seven years of service. Dick also owned and operated the 5K Bar in Gilman for several years. He was a volunteer fireman for several years serving the community of Gilman. When Dick had free time he enjoyed working outdoors with his hands. He loved to take his time with projects to make sure everything was just perfect. Dick enjoyed fishing, camping and boating at Rock Creek and will be remembered by his family and friends as one of the good old boys, who was a loyal family man and friend to all.Dick is survived by his wife Anna Annie Kibbee of Gilman, his children: Kelly Kibbee of Newton, Tim (Kris) Kibbee of Grinnell, Scott (Kelly) Macauley of Marshalltown, his mother Rosemary Kibbee, his siblings: Tom (Linda) Kibbee of Lafayette, Indiana, Becky (Ron) Harter of Grinnell, and Troy (Debi) Kibbee of Omaha, Nebraska, his mother-in-law Elizabeth Betty Lindsey of Gilman, his brother-in-law Wayne Lindsey and his four grandchildren: Elizabeth, Sam, Madelyn and Max. Dick was preceded in death by his father Earl Edmund and his father-in-law Charles Matthew Lindsey.
