Richard James Rich Rogers, 71, of Marshalltown, died Monday, August 11, 2008, while in the care of his loving family and Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 16th at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Dale Batchler officiating. Born on August 25, 1936 in Freeport, Illinois, he was the son of Ralph and Mildred (Davis) Rogers. He graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in Illinois in 1953. He served proudly in the US Navy during the Korean conflict from 1954-1957. On June 22, 1985, he married Alma Bach Coleman at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Rich worked as a welder at Manatts Repair Shop and also as a welder-fabricator at Ritchie Industries in Conrad. He retired in 1999. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, Marshalltown Restorers Club, Moose Lodge, First United Methodist Church, and he sang in the First United Methodist Church choir. His hobbies included fishing, traveling, camping, woodworking, and jest lookn fer Lefton.Left to mourn his loss are his wife, Alma, of Marshalltown; his children, David Coleman of Plano, TX, Linda(Calvin) Woosley of Beaman, Janna Wilson of Marshalltown, and Rick(Robin) Coleman of Lansing, KS; his 12 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; his brother, Donald(Doris) Rogers of Chadwick, IL; his sister, Geraldine(Ken) Mayes of Lincoln, IL; his brother-in-law, Max(Karen) Bach; his sister-in-law, Beula Rogers of White Water, WI;and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In death, he has rejoined his parents; his brothers, Lawrence, Ralph, and Charles; his sisters, Agnes and Norma, and his son-in-law, Robert Wilson, Jr.
