Richard Warnell

Richard Warnell, 75, of LeGrand, died Monday, November 22, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Per Richards wishes, following cremation, no services will be held. For further information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com.Richard was born May 23, 1935, in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of James and Rebecca Warnell (Graham). He was raised and educated in Marshalltown where he attended the Marshalltown School System. Early in life Richard was a foreman for the Rural Electric Association located in Marshalltown. During this time he lived and worked in both Colorado and Wisconsin. In 1987, following a workplace accident with REA, Richard moved back to Marshalltown. He then began his full-time career in trucking with R.J. Warnell Trucking. He was well known and respected as Uncle Richard to all of his fellow truckers. Throughout his trucking career Richard logged well over five million miles and drove in forty-eight states.During his free time Richard enjoyed fixing cars, completing auto-body work and putting together the large one-thousand piece puzzles. He also spent a lot of his free time helping family and friends with many projects including wiring, roofing and carpentry. He was a very selfless man and was never willing to take anything for the time he spent helping others.Richard is survived by his sister, Winifred Croskey of Toledo, his brothers Carl Warnell of Legrand and Mac Warnell of Bentonville, Arkansas, his daughter Glenda Schmidt of Marshalltown, his son Wayne (Tonya) Warnell of Marshalltown, his daughter Diana (Tony) Guilliano of Florida, his daughter Debra (Ed) Arbuthnot of Florida, his daughter Lisa (Bob) Moriartry of Florida and his son Rick (Melissa) Warnell of Florida, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his very special friends Sheila and Paul Jared of Marshalltown. Richard was preceded in death by his parents James and Rebecca, his siblings: Paul, Clay, Robert, Marilyn, Roger and Wayne and one grandson Willie Rhoades.
