Ricky Erban Davis was born September 14, 1955 in Marshalltown, Iowa and was the eldest of three children born to Harry and Evelyn (Whitmore) Davis. Ricky attended school in Marshalltown until he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from service in 1975.

On April 5, 1974, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Leila Ray at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. They moved to Albion where they began a family of their own raising three daughters, Carey, Amy and Judy. Ricky held many hats over his career and began working for Grey Iron in Marshalltown. After a few years he began working for McGregors Furniture as a delivery driver. He spent many years at Meskwaki Bingo and Casino as a table games dealer before going to Jeld-Wen where he worked on door assembly. He retired from Jeld-Wen but didn’t stay retired for long. He enjoyed spending his summers working at Bob’s Bait Shop on 3rd Avenue as something to keep him going.

Along with fishing, Ricky enjoyed spending time outdoors and spent many seasons hunting various game and the anticipation of mushroom hunting in the spring. He was a great singer and loved playing his guitar in his band, Prairie Fire. Ultimately, he was a family man who was loved by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Leila Davis; his children, Carey Meling, Amy (Jason) Dasch and Judy (Mike) Verbeek; 12 grandchildren, Cheyenne (Pedro) Chavarria, Austin (Jennifer) Meling, Bristol Hauser, MacKenzie Kasal, Brady (McKenzie) Davis-Rice, McCartney Rhodd, Carsyn Dasch, Avery Dasch, Madison Bartell, Ricky Davis, Johnny Davis and Amrey Davis; great-grandchildren, Peter Chavarria and Aurora Meling; and his brother, Brian (Cindy) Davis. Additionally, he is survived by his furry four-legged companions, Fred and Ginger, special cousin, Lana Clement and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Evelyn Davis; sisters, Cindy and Anita Sue Davis; paternal and maternal grandparents; father and mother-in-law, Jessie and Ruby Ray; and three sisters-in-law.
