Ricky Edwards

Ricky Dean Edwards passed away in the care of Iowa River Hospice on February 29th, 2016. A public visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Ricky Edwards was born to Gerald Edwards and Norma Jean Riha (Swab) on May 30, 1960, in Marengo, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area, attending the Tama/Toledo school district. On June 16, 1978, Kathy Benson and Ricky Edwards were united in marriage at the Living Faith United Methodist Church. Together they made their home in Toledo, Iowa. Ricky was an employee of Lennox, International Ingredients Corporation and Swift & Co. He was also a member of the Eagles Club. Ricky loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing with RC cars, hunting and fishing, gardening, the Iowa Hawkeyes as well as the Washington Redskins, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and helping his friends and family. He also loved walking his baby, Molly. Ricky was also a Golden Gloves boxer in his high school years. Rick also knew how to have a good party. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Kathy Edwards; children: Schelby (Martin Cruz-Castanon) Cruz-Edwards, Jennifer (Jessie Ortiz) Edwards, Zack Edwards, Eric Verdulla, Salina Ochoa; grandchildren: Nyana, Maliah, Josephine, Zandra, Jacob, Cecilia, Isaiah, Bianka, Gabriel, and Catalina; siblings: Randy (Linda) Edwards, Debbie (Bobbie) Edwards, Larry Edwards and Scott Phillips, Lonnie, Irene, and Timmy, extended family; Angie and Richard Branan, Waltemeyers, Earl, Dina, Ross and Deja. In death, Ricky rejoins his father; Gerald Edwards and mother; Norma Jean Riha (Swab), grandmother; Maxine Ryan Anderson, grandfather; Walt Ryan, brothers-in-law; Bobbie Edwards and Scott Phillips.
