Born September 25, 1937 in Marshalltown, Iowa, Bob was the only child of Paul Victor and Florence Harriet (Botnen) Berry. He grew up on a farm near Liscomb, learning hard work and dedication from an early age. After graduating from Liscomb High School in 1955, he went on to study engineering at Iowa State University.
Bob was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Dunsmoor on July 5, 1959 at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. They made their home in Conrad, and Bob farmed with his father until he began work at Fisher Controls as a draftsman, where he retired in 2000 after 33 years of service. He was a member of The Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Church of Christ, both in Liscomb.
Bob’s love of music began with early violin lessons, continuing into high school band and throughout his whole life. He enjoyed playing music, especially bluegrass, and was an accomplished luthier, building and repairing numerous string instruments for himself and friends. He enjoyed spending time in the kitchen and was passionate about cooking, particularly when it came to preparing a meal at family gatherings. He could be found constantly tinkering with various projects at his garage workbench and could fix anything he put his mind to.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 64 years, Pat Berry; his children: David Berry, Steven (Lynn) Berry, and Kimberly (Michael) Johnsrud; grandchildren: Allison Altgilbers, Michael Berry, Brian Berry, Nicole (Brandon) Boldt, Evan Johnsrud, and Grant Johnsrud; and great-grandchildren: Cali Altgilbers, Kyle Altgilbers, Raelynn Boldt, and Aiden Boldt.
In eternal life, Bob is reunited with his parents, Paul and Florence Berry, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Thelma Dunsmoor.
