Robert “Bob” Joe Black, 73, of Garwin, Iowa, passed away in his home on Sunday, December 4, 2022.


Services for Bob will take place on Friday, December 9 at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. A visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 1:00 P.M. Bob was born January 17, 1949, the son of Joe and Doreen (Fiala) Black and grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was a truckdriver and worked for Warnells and independently over his career. In his free time, he enjoyed shooting, fishing, fireworks, collecting coins and his beloved Pomeranians, including Rowdy. He loved old cars and was a member of Goodguys Rod and Custom Association. After fixing up his own ’57 Chevy, he took great pride in entering the Goodguys car show in the summer of 2022. He was also member of the NRA, Optimist Club and Izaak Walton League. Bob was stubborn and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed hosting gatherings, from Halloween parties with a haunted forest, to Easter egg hunts and building massive BBQ pits. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and Trump supporter. He was an amazing father and loved spending time with his family more than anything else. They cherished his jokes and stories and will deeply miss him.


Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 29 years, Norma; his children: Jody (Michael) Eastridge of Knoxville, IA and Jared (Pamela) Black of Marshalltown, IA; grandchildren: Chad (Cherie) Eastridge of Cedar Rapids, IA, Amanda Severt of GA, Katie Akers of IA, Emily (Kieran) Mort of Des Moines, IA, Dillon Black of Marshalltown, IA and Austin Black of Davenport, IA, Dakota Black of Marshalltown, IA and Dalton Black of Marshalltown, IA; great-grandchildren: Huxley, Freya and Ruby; sister Mary (Bernie) Ferneau of Marshalltown and several nieces and nephews.


Bob is preceded in death by his parents, great-granddaughter Adalee and his sister Patti Morford.
