Robert "Bob" Grove

Robert “Bob” Grove, 81, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.

A Memorial service for Bob will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be prior to the service; beginning at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time. Robert Grove was born on April 24, 1943 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence and Mabel (Weatherbee) Grove. Bob graduated from Le Grand High School in 1961. On January 15, 1993, Bob was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Rohloff at St. Henry Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Bob was a “jack of all trades”, but mostly farmed, operated an iron salvage business, and in maintenance at Wolfe Eye Clinic. Bob enjoyed farming and gardening, going junking and just liked to be outdoors. He also was a “foodie”, enjoyed watching Lets Make a Deal and was an avid sports fan, cheering on all of the Iowa teams. He especially enjoyed going up to Canada with his family on fishing trips.

Bob is survived by his children: Jeff Vieth, Kathy (Pat) Kopsa, Todd (Michele) Grove, Stacy Partida, Deb Grove and Melissa (Jacob) Grove. Grandchildren: Emily, Michelle, Whitney (Mike), Matt, Jeremy, Allie, Cody (Makenzi), Levi (Lexi), Austin (Christina), Makayla (Tyson), and Dylan. Siblings: Betty (Dennis) Nuese and Chuck (Bev) Grove. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife: Patricia; son: Dennis Vieth and daughter-in-law: Denise Vieth; parents: Clarence and Mabel; sister: Mary Ann Hall and brother-in-law: Garry Hall.
