Robert Brekke

The world lost a fantastic individual as Heaven gained one. Robert E Brekke of Marshalltown passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Public visitation will be on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Robert and his family. Robert was born on March 21, 1937, in Fernald, Iowa. He was the son of Orville and Pearl Henderson Brekke. On September 21, 1957, Robert was united in marriage to Janice Feuring in Bethany, Missouri. They resided in Alden, Union/Whitten area, and then finally Marshalltown. Robert was retired from Fisher Controls. Robert loved to garden, camp, fish, and ride his motorcycle. Robert and Janice would also vacation in Yuma, Arizona during the winter months. Left to cherish Roberts memory are his children: Brenda Brekke of Cedar Rapids, and Bryan Brekke of Albion. Grandchildren: James, Joe, Justin, Amanda, Naomi, Melinda, Ashley and Trenton. Sixteen great grandchildren. Siblings: Joann Luing, Richard (Gloria) Brekke, Ron Brekke, Jerald (Peg) Brekke, Joyce (Joe) McDonald, Dennis (Dawn) Brekke, Jack (Pat) Brekke, Janice (Jody) Mannetter, Danny (Carla) Brekke, and Jean Gustafson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, who passed away in 1996; his son, Brett Brekke; his parents, Orville and Pearl; siblings: Orville Butch Brekke Jr., Orlan Brekke, and Joel Brekke; and his grandparents.
