Robert Breno

Robert Breno, age 69, of Marshalltown, died Friday, March 31st at the Southridge Specialty Care where he has resided since March of last year.

Robert was thought to have been born in Des Moines and raised by grandparents in Ft. Dodge. Later in life, he reconnected with his mom, who lived in Ottumwa. He made his home in Ottumwa. During his journey of life, he came to Marshalltown, and attended the House of Compassion. He spent his nights across the street at Central Christian Church underneath the overhang. Soon, this church became his family.

The church took him in as their own and he was able to finally say he had a family. He attended church faithfully and treasured his relationship with them.

Robert loved dogs, cookies, coffee and having a cigarette. He would mow lawns and do odd jobs for people in need.

Surviving are his family at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown, his family at Southridge Specialty Care and others whose lives were touched by Robert but unknown to us.

In death, he has rejoined family members unknown.

A memorial gathering is being planned by his church family. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Robert’s cremation.
