Robert Dean Chambers, 76, of Marshalltown, died Friday, July 8, at the MMSC. The family invites you to bring a canned good item with you to the visitation or funeral in his memory to donate to the food box. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, at St. Marys Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Miller officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Memorials may be made to the Food Box. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born Robert Dean Chambers on December 9, 1934, at Marshalltown, Iowa, he was the son of Albert and Margaret (Kaple) Chambers. He received his education in the Green Mountain Public Schools. During the Korean War, Dean served our country honorably in the United States Marines Corps. On September 12, 1959, in Blue Earth, MN, he was united in marriage to Helen Jacobs. They made their home in Marshalltown where he was employed with Fisher Controls until his retirement. Dean was also employed later with Van Metre Auctions as the Yup Man. He enjoyed people, loved his family and was an active member of St. Marys Catholic Church parish and assisted those in need at the Food Box. He was also a member of the UAW Local 893, VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839, American Legion and Churches United in Compassion and Concern. Left to cherish his memory are Helen, his loving wife of 51 years, his children Paula Griggs (Earl Purvis) and Daryl (Cindy)Boehmer all of Marshalltown, four grandchildren and their families: Angie (DJ) Eastman, Layken, Emerson and Quinn; Katie (James) Lundberg, Mallory and Molly; Kevin (Kristen) Boehmer and Kayla Boehmer all of Marshalltown as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. In death, Dean rejoined his parents, brother Clifford Chambers and sister, Doris Yilek.
