Robert William Bill Christerson of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, July 29 at the Grandview Heights Care Center, of complications from Parkinsons Disease. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa with Pastor Dan Johnson officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow in the fellowship hall at the church. The family requests that you dress casually and comfortably. Phone 641-844-1234 Born on June 11, 1928 in Marshalltown, Iowa, he was the son of Bernard and Kathleen (Valentine) Christerson. He was educated in the area of his birth and graduated with the MHS Class of 1946. On August 27, 1950, he was united in marriage to Betty Braatz in Marshalltown, Iowa. They made their home on Taylor Avenue for over 55 years where he owned Christerson Pallet Company. They recently moved to Sunset Trailer Court, where Betty still resides. Bill was also a pattern-maker at Dunham-Bush for 15 years. Bill was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. He loved his family; enjoyed golfing, bird watching, woodworking, country music, traveling, growing gourds, gardening, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a collector of pennies that his grandchildren would steal to buy gum at the Animal Rescue League. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor. Left to mourn his loss are his wife of 57 years, Betty; his three daughters, Jamie (Milhous) Santiago (Joseph) of Haverhill, Jackie Christerson-Knoepfler (Bill) of Sioux City and Julie Coleman (Byron) of Haverhill. Three grandchildren, Bryan (Amber) Coleman, parents of Bills great-grandson, Hayden; Abbie Knoepfler and Josh (Shara) Coleman; an uncle, Ralph Wilson, several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and mans best friend, Tillie. In death, he rejoins his parents, Bernard and Kathleen Christerson, his brother, Dick and an infant sister, Sheila.
