Robert Davis

Robert “Rob” Davis, 84, of State Center, Iowa, passed away on May 1, 2019 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services for Rob will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown.  Public visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown where Rob’s family will be present to greet friends.  Memorial contributions may be directed in Rob’s name to his family.  For further information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call (641) 844-1234.  Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Rob and his family. Robert Edward Davis was born on January 18, 1935 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Earnest and Elise (Dowl) Davis. Rob was currently in a long term relationship with LaVonne Collier who never married but didn’t let that title hold them back from being an amazing couple.  Rob worked a majority of his time at the Railroad in Marshalltown and was a Carman.  He also held other jobs, but his longest career was working with the railroad.  He had a passion for fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and friends and working with his hands. Left to cherish his memory is his significant other: LaVonne Collier; children: Dennis Davis, Max Davis, Denise (Larry) Hansel, Christine Vieth, Carla (Roger) Howe, Kara Collier, Tom Collier and Mike Seymour; grandchildren: Robert Hansel, Karen Hansel, Sonja Hernandez, Sara McAnulty, Whitney Jayne, Matt Vieth, Courtney Monk and Kim Howe; siblings: Betty Jean Ray, Ron Davis and Rose Gardner, as well as many great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rob is preceded in death by his parents, first spouse Audrey and two children as well as brothers and sisters.
