Robert Dunham

Robert “Bob” Dunham, age 88, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke’s Hospital Cedar Rapids.

Robert was born August 27, 1934 in Marshalltown, the son of Charles K. and Lela Belle (Shiflett) Dunham. He was one of nine children. He attended school in Montour before graduating from Rhodes High School. He went on to attend Open Bible College in Des Moines, where he majored in Theology. In 1957, Bob moved to California and lived there for 32 years. He worked at Lockheed Missile Plant in Sunnyvale.

After his retirement in 1990, Bob decided to move back home to Marshalltown. He was a dedicated member of Marshalltown Church of the Nazarene. Bob loved people and giving back to his community. He volunteered at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center for 25 years and enjoyed working at the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA. He could play the piano by ear and enjoyed many trips over the years to his favorite place on earth, Hawaii. He loved cooking, reading and his cat, Harley.

In 2005, Bob was united in marriage to Pat Manshack, his longtime friend from California.

Bob is survived by one sister, Judy (Jon "Steve") Maxwell of Kansas City; brother-in-law, Clair Elsberry; sisters-in-law: Sue Dunham-Osman, Gail Dunham, Marilyn Dunham and Phyllis Dunham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In heaven, he is reunited with his parents; wife, Pat; brothers: William "Bill,” Jerry, Ronald and David; and sister: Delores, Donna and Becky.

Visitation will be at Marshalltown Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, July 22 beginning at 9:30 A.M, followed by services at 10:30 A.M. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery. All attendees are encouraged to wear tropical attire. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Marshalltown Church of the Nazarene.
