Robert Bob Eugene Ellis, 79, of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, November 18, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by his loving family. Bobs legacy will live on as he was an organ and tissue donor.Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 24 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Bob and his family. Bob Ellis was born in Jasper County, Iowa on August 4, 1933, the son of Theodore Roosevelt Ellis and Wanda Schmidt Ellis. Bob married Marvel Clement on October 9, 1954 in Marshalltown. They resided in Rhodes, Iowa and later moved to Marshalltown to spend the rest of their years. Bob retired from Lennox Industries in 1996 where he had worked for 30 years. Bob also had a passion for farming and helped his son-in-law with that as well. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church, Local UAW #893, was a volunteer fireman for Rhodes and was on the Rhodes Town Council. Bob always loved to be outside; he loved to do remodeling projects and woodworking especially for his family. Bob always tried to stay busy and will be remembered as a very hard working person. Bob was devoted to his wife and family and will be missed by many.Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marvel; children: Doug Ellis, David (Nancy) Ellis, Cheryl (Hank) Miller and Linda (Greg) Nennig; grandchildren: Scott (Hallie Holder) Ellis, Joanna (Derek) Timmer, Maemie Miller, Hattie Miller, Cassie Miller, Ridge Nennig and Reid Nennig; great grandchild Siena Timmer and numerous nieces and nephews.Bob is preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Marjorie Morrison and Karen Johnson.
