Robert Fahrenkrug

Robert Bob Fahrenkrug, 81, of Marshalltown, died early Friday morning, December 9, at the MMSC.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, at the Faith Assembly of God with Pastor Duane Morraine officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Harry C. Harter Post #839. Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on January 14, 1930, at Gladbrook, he was the son of Ernest and Lillie Fahrenkrug. He graduated from the Gladbrook High Schools Class of 1948. Soon after, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country honorably for three years. Upon his return, he worked for Fisher Controls, retiring after 40 faithful years of service.Bob was a member of the VFW #839, Marshalltown Senior Citizens, and attended church with his daughter and family at Faith Assembly of God. At the Assembly of God, he was a member of SWAT (Seniors with a Testimony). He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, solving the worlds problems at Hy-Vee in the mornings and being his granddaughter Shays number one cheerleader at her sporting events. He and Bev enjoyed trips to Decorah to fish before her health failed and supporting the events of ALS and its awareness (Bevs illness). Bob also repaired fishing reels and rods and served on the Marshalltown City Council. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jody (Jim) Wiegand of Marshalltown and their daughter Shay; Jerry (Sue) Fahrenkrug of Newton and their children Jeri Su, Justin and Josh and Jeri Sus children Kegan and Allysa; Bevs son Dennis Baldwin and his son Joey of Waukee, his brother Wendell Conrad of Waterloo as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In death, Bob rejoined his wife Beverly whom he married on July 8, 1983, his former wife Helen Hays, his parents, brother Ernie and sister Caroline Frahm.
