Mr. Robert Heesch, 75, of the Iowa Veterans Home, formerly of Pottawattamie County, died Thursday evening, January 8th, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown with his loving family at his side. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13th, at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest with full military honors by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839 in the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the services at the IVH Chapel. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born June 5th, 1933, in Garretson, South Dakota, he was the son of Julius Richard and Laura Myrtle (Manor) Heesch. He received his education in the area of his birth and served our country honorably in the United States Air Force after the Korean War. Besides his military career, he was a truck driver and became a part of the IVH family in September of 2005. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Rosemary, whom he married on May 9th, 1959, in Phillips, South Dakota; his children: David of Council Bluffs, Richard of Oakland, Iowa, Robert of Jasper, MO., Susan Jean of Altoona, Iowa, 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his siblings: Sonny in Wisconsin, Ramona Stansell of Dell Rapids, SD, Richard of Kingman, AZ, Ronnie of Sioux Falls, SD, Helen Heeren of Dell Rapids, SD, Rosemary McDowell of Sioux Falls, several nieces, nephews, cousins, his IVH family and friends. In death he has rejoined his parents and brother, Raymond.
