Robert Edward Hughes was born on October 7, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri. He received his education in the area of his birth. Robb moved his young family to Marshalltown to work at Swifts until his health declined. There, he met Marlene who became the love of his life. The two shared their lives together- for better or worse and in sickness and health- for the past 20 years. Anyone who knew Robb knew exactly where they stood with him. He wasnt afraid to tell you to leave, but then again could charm you into instant forgiveness. He enjoyed his TV- especially watching Gunsmoke and rarely gave up the remote. Left to cherish his memory are Marlene, his loving companion, best friend and soul-mate of the past 20 years, his children: Niki Parker of Marshalltown, Ondrea Holmes of Cedar Falls and Michael (Steph) Aswegen of Oregon and Taveis Stevens of Killeen, TX, 10 grandchildren, his siblings-Dena Cooper and Nancy Hughes both of Omaha, Caroline Hughes and Brenda Wesley both in Kansas City, Peaches Ervine and Teddy Hughes both in St. Josephs, MO and Johnny Hughes of Cedar Rapids as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death, Robb rejoined his parents, a special grandmother, four sisters and his son, Nicholas.
