Robert R. Bob Keese, 86, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formally of Garwin, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center with his loving family by his side. Memorial service for Bob will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Green Mountain United Church of Christ with Pastor Kim Wilson officiating. Public visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where his family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Robert and his family. Robert Raymond Keese was born on March 24, 1927, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Lillian Mae (Shore) Keese. He was raised and educated in the Green Mountain school district graduating from Green Mountain High School. After high school Bob honorably served his country joining the Navy on May 15, 1945. The best gift he could have received was the hand of his lovely bride, Colleen Lynch on Christmas Eve in 1946. To this union four children blessed their lives Mary Lou, Roberta, Jo and Jon. Bob was employed with Marshall Farm Service, selling petroleum products for 27 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of Green Mountain United Church of Christ, Green Mountain card club and the Legion. He was his childrens and grandchildrens biggest cheerleader, an ever present fan when it came to their sporting events. Bob had a passion for playing cards, reading western novels, green tractors and fishing with his family in Canada. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 66 years Colleen Keese; children: Mary Lou (Everett) Mills of Hubbard, Iowa, Roberta Keese of West Des Moines, Iowa, Jo (Tim) Ruff of Garwin, Iowa and Jon (Cindy) Keese of Huxley, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents: Raymond A. Keese and Lillian (Shore) Keese.
