Born June 11, 1948 in Dublin, Ireland to Thomas & Kathleen (Teeling) Leavy, Robert came to the United States with his family in 1955. Robert was a kind and wonderful husband and father. He never knew an enemy and would give his last dollar to help anyone. Deeply rooted in his faith of being a CaBap, a religion he had to make up because he couldnt quite decide if he wanted to be a Catholic or a Baptist. Robert worked at Swift and Company for approximately 10 years along side his father, Thomas Leavy. He was also an entrepreneur who dabbled in many different businesses; i.e. Ice Cream Store (Omars), Insurance Sales, De-tasseling, Snow Removal, Lobster Sales, Roofing Houses, and C and L Small Engine Repair, before finally settling on the Tax Preparation Business which he built from 20 clients to over 4,000 at his height. . He had a passion for animals and loved the outdoors, and he would never get on another horse since he got bucked off and broke 5 ribs. He always created lots of extra-curricular actives for his kids like sledding down the Iowa River being pulled by the 79 Red Ford Truck or taking the John Boat, maxed out with kids, down the biggest hill he could find in Marshalltown IA. In his good years he enjoyed golfing and Pheasant Hunting with his dog Omar. Robert enjoyed taking his children on trips and later in his life traveling with his wife Suzanne to places like Israel, Ireland, and Las Vegas. Robert brought a certain amount of joy to anyone who had the pleasure to meet him. If you met Robert at some point in your life even for a short period of time, you would have never forgotten him. Relations from all over the world like Ireland, South Africa, Kuwait, and the United States will grieve his passing. This is dedicated to the best Husband and Father who ever lived.
