Robert L. Lynch, 80, formerly of Green Mountain, now residing in Marshalltown at the Grandview Heights Rehab & Healthcare Center, died there Monday, September 20, 2010. Funeral services for Robert will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 24, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Chapel Cemetery near Gladbrook. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 23, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where Roberts family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Robert and his family. Phone 641-844-1234. Robert Lynch was born August 11, 1930, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Charles and Ona (Rollings) Lynch. He was raised and educated in the Green Mountain area on their family farm. On August 1st, 1949, Robert married Avondell Vonnie Balmer at the Chapel Church in Gladbrook. Bob farmed in Green Mountain for several years before retiring in 1977. Bob and Vonnie moved to Marshalltown in 1980. During his retirement, Bob drove for Marshall Motor Coach for 18 years. He also drove a truck part-time for Harold Severe, delivered parts for Southard Implement and drove a school bus. Bob was a volunteer for the Green Mountain Fire Department. Bob enjoyed traveling, trips to Alaska and Nova Scotia, and creating beaded lamps.Robert is survived by his wife Avondell Vonnie Lynch of Marshalltown; his children Roberta (Jerry) Hellie of Mankato, Minnesota, David Lynch of Marshalltown, Dennis (LeAnn) Lynch of Conrad, and Annette (Dennis) Lemker of Haverhill; his 10 grandchildren: Jeffrey Hellie, Angela Michel, Emily Rash, Heather Craighton, Stacey Bacigalupo, Nicole Lynch, Megan Nordstrom, Ryan Lemker, and Brett Lemker, his 9 great-grandchildren: Jordan, Carter, Gabrielle, Cole, Skylar, Caden, Maddox, Parker and Sydney, his step-brother Bob (Elayne) Campbell of Scottsdale, Arizona and his step-sister Rosella Campbell of Minneapolis, Minnesota.Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Christopher.
