Robert James Olson

Robert James Rob Olson, 51, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Memorials may be directed to the family. Born Robert James Olson on March 29, 1957, in Waterloo, he was the son of James Claron and JoAnn (Weigle) Olson. He received his education in the Waukon Schools and later his Farm Management degree from Hawkeye Tech. Rob resided in Waterloo and moved to Marshalltown 15 years ago. He was the owner of Anglers Choice Bait Shop and Rob Olson Construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He had the biggest heart of anyone that you would meet. Left to cherish Robs memory are his son, Tony(Tiffany) Olson of Norway; his parents Jim and JoAnn Olson of Waterloo; his grandchildren Makayla and Makenna Olson of Norway, and Taylor Olson of Marshalltown; his brother Bill (Cathy) Olson of Dysart; his sister Carrie (Mark) Johnson of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In death, he has rejoined his grandparents and his wife, Marge, who died in 2005.
