Robert Scott, 83, died of natural causes on April 15th in his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born in rural Warren County on January 8th 1933, to Frank and Lottie Mae Scott. Bobs father, Frank, through hard work, was able to purchase a farm where Bob spent his childhood. He raised Angus cattle and sheep which he showed at the Warren County Fair. He graduated from Beech High School. He briefly attended Central College. Due to his fathers illness, he returned to the family farm for eight years. While at Central College, he met the love of his life roller skating at the gym. On September 1st 1953, he married Joyce Leydens, of Pella. Due to health issues, Bob was unable to continue farming. He decided to return to school and earn a business degree from Simpson College. While at Simpson, he worked as a bank teller. This job opened the door to his second career in banking. Bob had a successful banking career working for several banks and working his way up to bank President of Boone State Bank. Bob was an active member of Kiwanis and served as President and also served on various boards. Bob and Joyce lived in Marshalltown for 43 years and recently moved to Clive. Bob and Joyce enjoyed celebrating many holidays, New Years Eve parties and attending plays with friends. Bob was longtime fan of Iowa State basketball. He really enjoyed watching the team do so well this year. Bobs two greatest loves were his family and farming. He and his son, Brad, worked of several home improvement and rental property projects together. Bob often shared stories about his life on the farm. The grand kids loved hearing stories about the many farm animals and tractors while sharing a favorite meal. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Joyce and his son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Kate Scott of Clive, Iowa and their four children, Jack. Beth, Nick and Suzy. Survivors also include his sister-in-law, Norma Leydens of Pella and his cousin Mary Babb. In death, Bob joins his parents Frank and Lottie and his sister Audrey Mae. A service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, April 19th at First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. The family will greet visitors at lunch after the service followed by interment at I.O.O. F Cemetery in Indianola, Iowa. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to the First Presbyterian Church, Marshalltown Iowa. Mitchell Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa is assisting.
