Bob Simmons

Robert “Bob” Simmons, 66, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the afternoon of January 3

0th, 2023 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with his brothers and his nephew Ryan at his side.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshalltown beginning at 10:30 A.M. Memorials in Bob’s name may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown or the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Robert Michael Simmons was born March 14, 1956 to parents James and Melba (Hammond) Simmons in Marshalltown, Iowa. Bob attended school in Marshalltown where he graduated from Marshalltown High School in the class of 1975. He went on to attend a trade school for a couple years. After trade school, Bob worked at Stewart’s Lumberyard over the course of 10 years before beginning his work for Lennox in Marshalltown. Bob worked various positions over the course of his many years at Lennox. He held the position of building maintenance right before he retired in 2021 after over 30 years of service.

In his free time, Bob was a member of the UAW Local 893 of Marshalltown. In his free time, Bob loved to go scuba diving for many years, reading books, and spending time with his brother Tom.

Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his brothers, Bill (Carla) Simmons and Tom Simmons; his nephews, Sean (Jayme) Simmons and Ryan (Ronnie) Simmons; alongside numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Melba Simmons and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
