Robert Swanson

Robert Swanson, 81, of the Valley View Village in Des Moines, formerly of Marshalltown, died Wednesday, February 22, at Valley View Village. Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26th, at the Riverside Cemetery. There will be no visitation. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Robert and his family. 641-844-1234. Born on November 14th, 1930, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Wilbert and Carrie (Matsen) Swanson. He graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1949. In July of 1954, he was united in marriage to Deloris and they made their home in Marshalltown where he was employed at Fisher Controls in Inventory Control for 30 years until retiring in 1985. He was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed his membership with the Marshalltown Evening lions Club. Surviving are his children: Barbara (Mark) Peterson of Ames, Steven (Becky) Swanson of Mason City, David (Diana) Swanson of Marshalltown and Karen (Bobby) Hall of Oceanside, CA. his six grandchildren: Michael Peterson of Ames, Melissa Roberts of West Des Moines, Amy (Ryan) Brown of Maple Grove, MN, Joshua Swanson of Cedar Rapids, Brent Swanson and his fianc Melissa of Eau Claire, WI and Alexander Hall of Oceanside, CA., and seven great-grandchildren. In death, he rejoined his parents.
