Robert Willits

Robert Dean Willits, 85, of Marshalltown, passed away early on the morning of Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the Iowa River Hospice Home. Funeral services for Robert will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 5:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, with a visitation taking place prior from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. A private family burial will take place at Albion Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for later designation. Robert was on born February 9, 1936 in Marshalltown to parents Ray and Irene (Hook) Willits. After attending school in Marshalltown, he honorably served in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Maxine Drummer on October 15, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Robert worked in the utility stock department at Emerson – Fisher Controls. He was a member of the UAW and former Moose Lodge. When he wasn’t hard at work, Robert enjoyed playing golf and many other sports, including billiards and volleyball. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Debra (Bill) Thomas, Mike (JoAnn) Willits and Lisa (Daniel) Branon; grandchildren: Timothy Thomas, Carlyle Thomas, Adam Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Clint Wedgwood, Jamin Wedgwood, Samantha Lopez, Samatha Rix, Laura Ihde, Daniel Branon Jr. and Dazsha Branon; many great-grandchildren; his brother, Lyle Willits; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his faithful companion, Spud. In death, Robert is reunited with his beloved wife, Maxine; his parents, Ray and Irene; his sister, Joan and her husband, John Johnson and his sister-in-law, Martha Willits.
