Roberta Cross, 73, of Marshalltown passed away May 21, 2020, at Unity Point Health – Marshalltown. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Attendees are encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Friends may come from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday evening, May 28th at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A memorial fund is being established. Roberta was born on March 16, 1947 in Marshalltown, the daughter of Robert and Josephine (Clark) Cross. She was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District, graduating in 1966. Roberta had a lifelong love of Girl Scouts as a child and continued that passion to adulthood. She was a leader for many years and became a lifelong Girl Scout member. Roberta also enjoyed teaching Sunday School for second graders. Love of family was strong for Roberta; she loved the role of family historian. Roberta was devoted to keeping up family genealogy. She also enjoyed working in retail, being employed at Woolco and Walmart until her stroke in 2009, which changed her life drastically. After her stroke, she spent some time at On With Life in Ankeny. She has resided at Accura Healthcare in Marshalltown since 2009. Surviving is her sister, Jane Rand of Wichita, KS and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In eternal life, Roberta has been reunited with her parents, Dale and Josephine Cross and her grandparents, Thomas A.W. and Eva Clark and Myron and Lola Cross, and many aunts and uncles.
