Roberta Birdie E. Holder-Allen, 81, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, April 14th, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home withReverend Jeffrey Frese officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Friend may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice. Born on April 15th, 1925 in Marshalltown, she was one of eight children, three brothers and four sisters, born to Grant and Elsie (Breiting) Radcliff. She received her education in the area of her birth. In 1942, in Marshalltown, she was united in marriage to Carroll Holder and later divorced. She then married Bob Allen in 1989 and they made their home in the Marshalltown area. She was employed as a Cottage Parent in Eldora from 1963 to 1972, she worked at a sewing factory in Hermitage, Missouri, and later as a homemaker. Birdie held church memberships at a local Baptist Church and most recently at the First Congregational Church. Birdie enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing and reading. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Navy Mothers. She will be greatly missed by many. Left to mourn her loss are her children Maxine Blazek of Indianola, Ron (Patty) Holder of Platte City, MO and Greg (Jane) Holder of Marshalltown, grandchildren Brian, Tonya, Kellie and Kathrine, eight great-grandchildren, siblings Joe (Betty) Radcliff of Marshalltown and Jim Radcliff of Lakeside, CA. Also her special friend, Bill Buckwald and his family. In death she has rejoined her parents, husband, Bob Allen, four sisters and one brother.
