Roberta Jayne Verwers, 75, of Gladbrook, passed away February 26, 2012 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.Private family graveside service will be held at the Chester Cemetery. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Roberta and her family.Roberta Jayne Rickard was born on October 29, 1936 in Grinnell, IA; she was the daughter of Ralph Robert and Mary Jane (Ellett) Rickard. Roberta attended and then graduated from Gilbert High School with the class of 1955. She then attended a floral school in Denver, CO in 1959. In Redwood City, CA, Roberta was united in marriage to Richard Verwers on September 26. In the early 1980s, she attended the Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, OK. Roberta attended many nursing homes giving the word of the lord and calling it: Advancing Ministry. Richard andRoberta supported media ministries and was a faithful watcher of Les Feldick Bible Studies. Roberta loved her family, music, playing the piano, singing, and making personalized cards. She is survived by husband Richard Verwers of Gladbrook; her children: David (Jodi) Verwers of Lafayette, IN and Karel Beth (Terry) Ireland of Mendota, IL; her grandchildren: Damien (Kelly) Verwers, Stephanie (Scott) Lampson, and Valorie Verwers; her great grandchildren: David Lee, Sebastien, Ashton, Sevannah, Sierrah, and Ethan; her siblings: Marty, Nancy, and Mike.Roberta is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carol, her son-in-law and grandchildren;Richard Cooling, Philip and Sarah Cooling.
