Roberto Cervantes Viramontes

May 10, 1963 — September 4, 2023

Roberto “Beto” Cervantes Viramontes, 60, of Tijuana, Mexico, entered eternal life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 4th, 2023.

Born on May 10th, 1963 with his twin sister in Tijuana, Mexico he is the son of Maria Cervantes and Rosendo Viramontes. Husband to Leticia Barrera Viramontes and Father to Robert Viramontes, late Ryan and Roger Viramontes, Letty Viramontes. Grandfather to Trinity Viramontes, Noah Viramontes, late Ryan Quinn Viramontes, Logan Viramontes. He was the younger brother to late José Francisco Navarro and Rosalva Navarro, twin to Araceli Laffranchini and older brother to Elizabeth Mendez and Elena Vargas. Uncle to many. Growing up in Tijuana, Mexico with just his mom and siblings after his father passed. He loved his family and shared his love for God and the Bible with his mother. He came to America at 15 years old and never looked back.

He did anything he set his mind to. He taught himself how to be a mechanic and turned it into his career. At 16 years old he met the love of his life Leticia they got married after 1 1/2 of dating. They had their four children together; his kids were the light of his life. He was a great father from showing his kids to work on cars and boats, to showing them how to treat others and be kind. He took pride in everything he did and taught his kids. He always put family first and made sure everyone always got together from big family Thanksgivings, which was his favorite holiday, to any excuse to get everyone together and have a cookout and cracking open a cold Corona or a nice shot of tequila with his friends. He loved taking his family on vacations from a week in Laughlin, to a lake day with the whole family to any theme park.

He had many dreams and completed all of them no matter how small, from owning his own boat to opening his own shop (R&R Automotive); there was nothing he could not do. He found a peaceful and quiet life in Iowa which he loved. From working in mechanic shops in Marshalltown to making canes and giving them away to strangers in need. Even after he lost his sons and got sick, he still managed to have a great and joyful outlook on life. Cracking jokes any chance he got. He was a giver.

He wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, from breaking down an engine with his boys to fixing anything he could get his hands on. He loved movies of all kinds from Cheech and Chong to Fast and Furious and Pirates of the Caribbean. He loved watching shows like Married With Children to King of the Hill and Deadliest Catch.

Left to cherish his memory are his Mother: Maria Guadalupe Cervantes; Wife: Leticia Barrera De Viramontes; Children: Robert Viramontes and Letty Viramontes;  Grandkids: Trinity Viramontes, Noah Viramontes, Logan Viramontes; Siblings: Rosalva Navarro, twin Araceli Laffranchini, Elizabeth Mendez and Elena Vargas; And many nieces and nephews, tias and tios and cousins.
