Robin Gienger, of State Center, Iowa and Warner Robins, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 5th, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with nodular melanoma cancer.
Robin was born on April 14, 1971, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Sharon Kay Brumley and Michael Allen Darrow. A true jack of all trades, she spent her life working in a variety of fields including hotels, construction, and maintenance, never afraid to roll up her sleeves and get the job done.
Robin had the personality of a bull; strong, stubborn, and fearless. She was known for her sharp sarcasm, unfiltered honesty, and her willingness to give the best advice she could when asked. Those who knew her always knew exactly where they stood, and they loved her for it.
She loved to sing to anyone who would listen, enjoyed coloring, playing her online casino games, and most of all, spending time with her friends and family; many of whom she considered family by choice, not just by blood.
Robin is survived by her sons, Justin Immanuel Hernandez (Brittney) and Jesse James Hernandez (Shaina); her two cherished grandsons, Mateo and Roxas; her best friend and companion dog, Shaka; her mother, Sharon Brumley; her sisters, Alisha Mericle and Jessica Darrow (Joey); her brothers, Michael Darrow Jr. (Krista), Lloyd Darrow, and Charles “Chuck” Brumley; as well as 11 nieces and nephews and 9 great-nieces and great-nephews, including her favorite nieces, Kati Hamilton & Taylor Johnson, along with many friends she held close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Darrow; her nephew, Junior Darrow; her niece, Madison Darrow; and her great-niece, Alice Holbrook.
Robin wished to honor a few people who held a special place in her heart. She expressed deep gratitude to Tisha Zink and Nikki Hernandez for stepping up and caring for her sons when she was unable to do so. She also lovingly acknowledged her Georgia family- Angel Letot, Charles Farrow and family, and Terry Reed for their support and love.
In true Robin fashion, she leaves everyone with this reminder:
“Keep your head held high and your middle finger higher.”
Per Robin’s wishes, cremation rites have taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the family for later designation. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for Robin and her family. To leave online condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.
