Rodney S. Beecken, born on October 6, 1968, in Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on August 29, 2025, in his beloved hometown. He was the retired owner and operator of Scott Tent and Awning Lawn Care, a testament to his commitment to cultivating beauty in his community. Rodney's entrepreneurial spirit was evident in every meticulous detail of his work, reflecting his passion for landscaping and dedication to his clients.
Rodney received his education at Glick and Rogers Elementary, Miller Junior High, and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1987. His formative years were shaped by a deep appreciation for home and family, evident in his treasured memories spent in the kitchen with his mother, where he honed his skills in cooking and memorized numerous recipes. This love for culinary arts and construction mirrored his enjoyment of television shows like "This Old House," which inspired his hands-on approach to both fixing things and kitchen arts.
A proud member of the community, Rodney cherished the festive celebrations of Christmas and Thanksgiving, where he shared in the warmth of togetherness. His personality was characterized by a gentle spirit and a knack for making people laugh.
Rodney is survived by his sister Michelle (Jeff) Daggett and his nephews Jared (Sara) and Jacob: and held a special place in his heart for his great nieces and nephews: Jordyn, Madisyn, Jacksyn, Jace, and June. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss his warmth and humor dearly.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Barbara (Slifer) Beecken, whose influence continued to guide him throughout his life. As they welcomed him into their eternal embrace, we take comfort in the cherished memories he has left behind.
