Rodney 'Rod' Edwards

Rodney Rod James Edwards, 53, of Gladbrook, IA, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Hawkeye Care Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorial services for Rod will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Doner officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Rod will be laid to rest at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed in Rods name to his family. Rodney James Edwards was born on October 22, 1963 in Marshalltown, Iowa; the son of Lyle Pete and Patricia (Wilkinson) Edwards. He was raised and educated in the Gladbrook school district, graduating from Gladbrook High School with the class of 1982. Following high school, Rod went on to attend Southern Illinois University. He was a hard working man, dedicating his working life as a Construction Engineer. Rod's passions in life were the Iowa Hawkeyes, Miami Dolphins and spending time with his nieces and nephews and special friend, Fawn Jones. Left to cherish his memory is his father, Lyle Pete Edwards; siblings: Mike (Angie) Edwards, Mariann Darter (Steve Frye), Andy (Robin) Edwards, Thomas (Rusty) Edwards and Joe (Gina) Edwards; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Edwards; stillborn brother, Stephen Edwards; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
