Rodney was born on May 26, 1960 in Eldora, Iowa to Diane Kay (Parrish) Franksain and Robert Eurom. He was raised by his mother, Diane Franksain and his dad, Dale Franksain in Colorado and later relocated to Iowa. Rodney met and married Sharon Kay (Trowbridge) Eurom. They eventually moved to Texas where they raised two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Kayleen. Rodney and Sharon were later divorced. They remained friends over these many years. Having a natural talent for repairing and building vehicles, it was no surprise that in 1981 Rodney graduated from the Denver Institute of Technology with his certification in Automotive Technology. Rodney also had a great affinity for Harley Davidson motorcycles. Because of this, and again, his natural talent with all things mechanical, in October 2011, Rodney proudly graduated, from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Florida, as a Certified Harley Davidson Technician. Rodney never shied from hard work. In addition to being one of the very best auto/motorcycle technicians, he worked in many different industries over the years. Most recently, Rodney worked for North Star Community Services of Marshalltown where he was loved by colleagues and clients alike. He had recently retired and was enjoying life and it’s many adventures. Rodney enjoyed going to the races, watching old westerns, riding his Harley, “tinkering”, studying the Bible in depth, working on cars, going to car shows, camping, and connecting with friends and family, especially over a good meal. He is remembered fondly by his family and a multitude of friends, as he had never met a stranger, for his generosity, his amazing hugs, his genuine care, for being incredibly authentic, always funny and having the BEST laugh. Rodney, “Papa Rod”, was extremely proud of his five grandchildren: Julia and Anthony Simpson of Georgia, and Ethan, Ella, and Elias Harrison of Rhode Island. He loved them dearly. Left behind to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Jennifer (Tony) Harrison and Kayleen (Jeremy) Simpson, his grandchildren: Julia Simpson, Anthony Simpson, Ethan Harrison, Ella Harrison, and Elias Harrison. He leaves behind his brother, Craig (Kathy) Eurom. Also left behind to cherish Rodney’s memory are his many amazing nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his lovable fur kid, Hoosier the cat. He is preceded in death by: his mother and father; three siblings: Terry Eurom, Justina “Tina” Franksain, Melissa “Lisa” Vandewalle; a nephew, Travis Vandewalle, and his grandparents. Lovingly written by “Papa Rod’s” family
