Roger Leslie Fuller

April 8, 1948 — January 29, 2017

Roger Leslie Fuller, 68, of Grinnell, passed peacefully early Sunday morning, January 29, 2017 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center with family by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held by his family on Saturday, February 4th from 1 4 at the United Church of Christ, 310 West Church Street in Gilman, Iowa. Roger was born April 8, 1948 in Marshalltown to Doris Lorraine (Carson) and Gilbert Lee Fuller. Roger grew up in Gilman, Iowa and graduated in 1967 from SEMCO High School. Roger was drafted to the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War where he was stationed at Tripler Army Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. Roger was married to Judith Kerr and Mary Audas. He was employed at Fisher, Swift & Co, Gilman COOP, Swift Greenhouses, Farmhand and McDonalds. Roger spent his last 12 years homebound with chronic COPD in which he loved calling people up and brightening their day. He was known for giving out advice. In his early years, Roger spent hours with his Dad doing lots of tinkering and pheasant hunting. He was a boy scout, had a great sense of humor, and loved telling stories. He is survived by his children: Leslie Fuller, Alisa Schroeder, Steven Fuller, Heidi Fuller, Benjamin (Jenn) Fuller and honorary son Joshua; grandchildren: Ashley Bracy, Nick (Julie) Fuller, Nicholas Szahowski, Sebastian Denham, Gabe Schroeder and Trinity Fuller; three great grandchildren; sister Marvis (Richard) Drew; step siblings: Larry Fisher, Tom (Pam) Fuller, Sharon Boughner, Tammie (Rich) Lewis; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Mommer. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Fuller Arboretum, Green Castle Lake % of Marvis Drew or the Roger Fuller Memorial Fund at Community 1st Credit Union in Grinnell, Iowa.
