Roger Mitchell

Roger Mitchell, 75, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Roger will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Roger was born on March 6, 1939, in Marshalltown. He graduated from LeGrand High School in 1957 and went on to attend Iowa State University. On July 10, 1960, Roger married the love of his life, Roberta Bobbie Morris at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. Marshalltown was their home all their married lives where they raised four children. Roger was employed at Fisher Controls his entire career and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Roger treasured the time with his family, watching TV, genealogy searches, being retired, and sharing a love of Star Wars with his grandson, Brad. Left to cherish Rogers memory is Bobbie, his loving wife of 54 years; his children: Randy of Iowa Falls, Robin (Carl) Follmer of Iowa City, Ron (Donna) Mitchell of Marshalltown, and Raeann (Phil) Hansen of South Jordan, Utah; his grandchildren: Brad, Hannah, Peyton, Michael, William, Samantha, Ryan, Carlie Lynn, Aubrey Rae, Suzette Marie, Chelsea Ann, and Bryce Vernon. Upon his marriage to Bobbie, her parents accepted him as none-other than their own son. Roger was loved and preceded in death by them: Wendell and Doris Morris. He now rejoins them in heaven.
