Roger Moore, 77, of Altoona, formerly of Marshalltown, passed away in the peace of his home on Friday, January 5th, 2018. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 13thth, at the SS. John and Paul Catholic Church in Altoona. He will be laid to rest in the Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League or Hospice in your community. Born on December 23rd, 1940, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Raymond and Mildred (Drew) Moore. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School. Roger was employed with Fisher Controls in Marshalltown until retirement. On January 7th, 1967, he was united in marriage to Eileen Daters at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Haverhill. They made their home in Marshalltown all of their married lives until moving to Altoona in 2009 to be near family. A good day was attending an ISU basketball or football game with tailgating! Roger and Eileen were longtime members of the Cyclone Club and frequented many games over the years. He treasured his time with family and enjoyed Wednesday lunch group, attending the Life After 50 club with Eileen and was devoted to his faith. He was most recently a member of the SS. John and Paul Catholic Church and formerly a member of St. Mary’s and later St. Henry’s in Marshalltown. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Karen (Richard) Boriskey of Cumming, IA, son Tony (Michelle) Moore of Oak Park, IL; grandchildren- Nick Boriskey, Tyler Moore and Courtney Moore; brother Roy Moore and sister Phylis (Richard) Pantle. In death, Roger rejoined his parents Raymond and Mildred and his wife, Eileen who passed away on July 4th, of this past year.
