Roger Osgood

Roger Lee Osgood, 72, of Marshalltown, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.   Funeral services for Roger will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held before the service; starting at 11:30 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Roger and his family.   Roger Osgood was born on September 6, 1947 in Marshalltown to Lee W. and Beulah Keese Osgood. Roger graduated from high school in 1967. Roger served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1971. On August 6, 1968, Roger was united in marriage to Glenda Farmer at Hillside Christian Church in Marshalltown. He worked for 30 years at Fisher Controls and retired in September of 2003. Roger enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was working on the farm, hauling gravel, working in his shop with the door open or delivering parts for NAPA. Roger also liked camping and fishing in his earlier years and going up to Leech Lake in Minnesota. He also traveled all over the country to visit his grandchildren, and even overseas to see his newly born grandchildren as well.   Roger is survived by his sons: Todd (Melissa) Osgood of Bellevue, Nebraska and Alan (Stephanie) Osgood of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Sarah, Ryan and Hanna Osgood. Brothers: Melvin (Joyce) Osgood, John Osgood, Carl (Judy) Osgood and Howard (Karen) Osgood. He is also survived by his sister in laws, Ramona and Betty Osgood, many nieces and nephews and his loving companion of over two years, Darlene Barker.   Roger is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda, whom passed away in 2015. Siblings: Betty Stanton, Calvin Osgood, Jim Osgood and Dick Osgood and his parents, Lee and Beulah.
