Roger Perry, 59, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, September 11th, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 15th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Full military honors will be provided by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Following the services, all are invited to JDs Pub for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Born on September 23rd, 1950, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he was the son of Kenneth and Ella Jane Ebbie (Park) Perry. Roger graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1969 and served our country honorably in the United States Navy from the summer following graduation to October 24th, 1973. On August 10th, 1974, he was united in marriage to Rene Jean Smith at the Grace United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. They made Marshalltown their home all of their married lives where he was employed at PCA until retiring in October of 2005. Currently, Roger was working at JDs pub, opening up in the morning. He enjoyed fishing, golf, NASCAR and treasured his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Jason Perry of Iowa City, Danielle Perry and Kailyn Perry both of Des Moines, grandson Kayden, his father Kenneth Perry of Marshalltown, sisters Jane (Hugh) Dougall of Marshalltown and Paula (Dayle) Aune of Eagan, MN, brother Mike (Talona) Perry of Marshalltown, his special friend and companion Jeanette Vajgrt of Marshalltown, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death, he was rejoined with his beloved wife Rene who died February 19th, 2001, his mother Ebbie and grandparents.
