Roger "Rog" Lynn Wrage

Roger “Rog” L. Wrage, 82, of Marshalltown, IA, formerly of Gladbrook, IA passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Newton Village Health Care.  Roger Lynn Wrage was born in Grundy Center, Iowa on January 14, 1937 the son of Dave and Pauline (Paustain) Wrage.  He graduated from Gladbrook High School, after high school he attended State Teachers College and Wartburg playing football at both schools. Roger met the love of his life, Norma Frerichs, and they were married on August 9, 1959 in Ackley. Roger was very patriotic and served our country honorably in the United States Army. Roger worked at Kiowa Corp in management for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Hope Methodist Church and belonged to the American Legion. Roger enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and loved cheering on the Chicago Cubs; he also enjoyed his grandson’s baseball games. Roger loved fishing, woodworking, birdwatching, spending time at the lake house on Lake Ponderosa, his St. Bernard’s, and cherished any time he could spend with his family. Left to cherish Roger’s memory are his wife of nearly 60 years, Norma; son, Jeff (Penny) Wrage and daughter, Joni (David) Miklya; grandchildren, Derek Wrage and Tammy Reese; great grandchildren, Anna Reese, Brittany and Carly Birmingham; sisters, Lorna Bieber, Marcella Goos and LaRue Brandemuehl; and brother, Lyle Wrage. In death he rejoins his parents, Dave and Pauline Wrage; sisters, Arvella Rogers and Marlys Siemens; and brothers, Leon and Arlo Wrage. A funeral service will be held at the Hope United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. where Pastor Greg Ellcey will officiate. A public visitation will be the same day an hour before the service at 10:00 a.m.  To honor Roger wishes, Hawkeye fans are encouraged to wear their Hawkeye attire.
